Letter From the CEO

I grew up learning languages—first German, then English. Later, I learned one more: Law.

Yes, law is a language. You can read it, learn it, understand it and speak it. No, I’m not a lawyer. I didn’t learn law in the classroom, but in the trenches, by writing amicus briefs, petitioning the Supreme Court and scrutinizing critical assumptions. I don’t offer legal advice, but I offer you: insights, perspectives, and clarity drawn from lived experience.

My path has been multidisciplinary, examining each issue through an integrated lens. A PhD in Economics gave me the tools to understand finance. Nineteen years at PwC taught me professional skepticism and critical thinking. Investing in a startup that develops sports-based financial products exposed me to the mechanics of markets, regulation, and policy. Over time, these experiences converged into one core thesis:

Almost every major disagreement in law and finance is rooted in these four words: Investing, Speculation, Gambling and Gaming.

Words make worlds, and these four words are no exception. Define them one way, and it leads to one world. Define them differently and you’ll end up in a completely different universe. Once I realized this, I took it upon myself to interrogate these words, until I ran out of any major questions to ask. I assumed nothing, questioned everything and followed first principles wherever they led.

Where I ended up was quite surprising. It rocked me to the core and I hope it will do the same for you. I can’t promise you’ll agree with me. What I can promise is authenticity, curiosity and conviction. Whether you’re a scholar, finance or legal professional, policymaker, regulator, journalist, or simply curious, you’ll find perspectives here that challenge convention and invite deeper inquiry.

My journey so far has been quiet discovery in the lab. Demanding but peaceful, I found myself alone with the words. The pursuit now becomes public conversation—less solitude, more dialogue. The road ahead will be tougher but also more rewarding.

I’d be honored to have your company along the way.
